Mini light sculptures laying on a table

LIMINAL CITY LIGHTS

Craft workshop & art walk with Francesca Perona

Create miniature LED sculptures to decorate the City with! Participants will build a fleet of mini light sculptures then head to the waterfront to leave their mark on the changing landscape of Dundee’s riverside.

This two-part workshop (making/walking) will allow us to reflect on the role of the urban community in the regeneration of the city of Dundee. Those attending the workshop will learn how to make a simple circuit with LED lights and coin cell batteries, encased in delicate origami paper structures. Guided by artist Francesca Perona, we will be encouraging you to creatively construct as many of these light sculptures as you can and, when our collection is plentiful we will begin our walk to the waterfront at dusk. Whilst visiting the Victoria Docks, Tay Bridge and old Earl Grey Docks we would love to hear your memories of these historical sites. As we pass through we will plant our light sculptures in colourful clusters, leaving a physical light trace of our journey and creating a one-night light show in the urban landscape.
